Unexpected surprise!

What a nice surprise to find such a nice restaurant of exceptional quality in
Springfield! We visited our son there from San Diego in November and when he said he'd take us to a restaurant, we didn't expect such quality! We will definitely return!!

Epicurean is one of the nicest restaurants in Springfield. The decor is excellent, service is top notch and the food is especially fanastic. Some of the best meals I had there were the Dinner Specials. The Prime Rib special was just simply the best that I can remember having. Also the Downstairs Bar is one of the nicest places in Springfield to hangout at - the ambiance and decor of this spacious hideaway is just great. There are special every night of the week and I feel everyone should check out this marvelous bar, there is nothing else in Springfield that compares.

Three friends and myself went to Epicurean, with no knowledge of what we would find. It was a delightful surprise. The decor is brilliant. Each detail has been thought out. The service was impeccable. Our waiter knew the right moments to come over and check on us. I had the filet, while the other three ate the duck. Each person raved about their plate. The duck was on a plate with a rice/pecan/strawberry mixture. It sounds unusual, but each taste and texture were complimentary. My filet, which I ordered medium, was cooked to perfect. It was not bloody and not burnt. It was decadence and melted in my mouth. The meat was atop a bean mixture that has a refreshing, Mexican flavor. Again, not what you'd expect, but an ingenious combination. The items were pricey, but worth it. My filet was $24 and the duck was $18. Then again, we are fresh out of college, so the money isn't rolling in. It was definitely a treat that I would not expect in Springfield. I had no problem paying at the end because the food and experience were worth it.
